Right. (plops matter-of-factly down on a bean bag chair)
Of course we haven’t updated since the first entry (a month and a lifetime ago). What can you expect from a serial blog-starter? Life often so gets in the way of compiling decent material for a blog (rolls eyes). And we SO had such dreams for this place!
(sighs)
so what have we been up to lately?
i’ve been trying to get used to wordpress’ dashboard since i’m really not much of a techie and the only internet savvy i can boast of is i can surf the byte wave like a seasoned maui pro. i don’t know how to make all those cool picture presentations, what the heck CSS is (is it related to CSI?) and how can i get those nifty boxes that visitors can leave a message on? (sighs…slumps in bean bag, fist on chin.) it’s been so long since livejournal. now there are post slugs, blogrolls, categories, pages, posts, etc. etc. etc. i get so confused!
so while i’m familiarizing myself with all these new buttons and things, i signed us up for a flickr account. happily, we loaded our pictures and even put titles on them and grouped them in sets! unfortunately, a free account only allows you 200 pictures and i have to pay for a subscription. (pbhhhht!) so i go to photobucket. not as nice as flickr, but it’ll do. now i’m hoping that photobucket spiffs itself up, interface-wise. otherwise, it’s nice and spacious and you can even upload around 20 photos at the same time. i’ve yet to witness another obstacle to our uploading joy but so far, we’ve been okay. now it’s a matter of putting the photobucket pictures on the site.
we’ve also been preoccupied with work. (nuf sed. haha.)
but mostly, we’ve been adjusting to the fact that as of early january, travelling for two would be travelling for three now. (chesire grin) yep. we would’ve said something earlier if it hadn’t been for the delicate nature of my first trimester. of course, we’ll be writing about that later on. hopefully, my erstwhile companion would be induced to write a few lines instead of merely commenting with his usual ascerbic wit.
anyhoo, i and my tiny miracle of evolution be needing sleep now. (yawns) my snoring husband and our wonderful bed awaits.

RF and I bonded over wanderlust. We used to walk around our old neighborhood holding hands and talking about everything and nothing at all. For pit stops and coffee breaks, we’d count out centavos to score coffee-flavored water at the local carinderia and a few sticks of Winston Reds. And still we’d talk as we watched our cross-section of the world parade by in their everyday dramas. We talked about what we were and where we’ve been, who we met and why we remember and where else we’d like to be and what we’d like to be doing at this exact time five years into the future.
Well, seven years later, we’ve managed to cover a considerable amount of pavement and dirt road. And even if we don’t count out centavos for coffee and cigarettes anymore (I stopped smoking. He hasn’t.) due to improvements in our financial adventuring, we still carry the same amount of wanderlust around. We promised ourselves that we’d try and cover every inch of the Philippine map, traveling alphabetically. Then we’d expand to traveling the whole wide world! ROME! VENICE! SPAIN! ITALY! Ship docks, mountain ranges and vineyards! *thunder*lightning*
However, the state of being working stiffs and not the offspring of filthy rich hacienderos have afforded us something of an extra adventure: the challenge of travelling under the radar and only on weekends. YAY! What happens is pretty much like a car-stuffing thing that used to pass for car pool back in college. The challenge would be to stuff as much worthwhile things in a few days for less than your weight in gold. Exciting, huh?
At first I just wanted to pack a bag and ride a bus, but sensibility prevailed in the form of Mr. Accountant. So plans, however sketchy, were dubiously accepted: brief researches yielding touristy destinations, places to stay and how much to set aside to keep us from washing a hundred dishes a night or swimming back home to Manila. So far, the loose arrangements have worked. And as long as we keep a few hundred in his socks for emergencies, we were fine. Sensible arrangements, at least!
So this is how this blog got started: wanderlust, a few extra bucks and trigger-happy fingers on camera-weilding hands. Enjoy with us!
